SPANISH CADET CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 36th Spanish Cadet and Junior Championships took place in Vitoria (Spain) a few days after the demise of President Faustino Soria. The Championships were presided over by the 1st Vice-president Mr. Benjamin Rodriguez Cabanas and counted with the presence of the WKF President Mr. Antonio Espinos. During the Opening Ceremony, the WKF President delivered a speech in which he rendered tribute to the memory of Mr. Soria and offered all the support of the WKF to the new leadership of the Spanish Federation.

He also congratulated everybody for the success of the Championships and the maturity shown by everybody under such difficult circumstances.

In these Championships has taken place the first reported use of the new WKF Face Mask. The WKF Medical Commission Chairman Mr. Rafael Arriaza and a team of collaborators attended the event and supervised all the operations in relationship with the Face Mask, between them the selection of the right size for each athlete.

The results have proved to be 100% satisfactory. Following we show some of the statistics taken.

NUMBER OF BOUTS 219

NUMBER OF FACE CONTACTS WHERE THE REFEREE STOPPED THE BOUT : 177

NUMBER OF TIMES THAT THE REFEREE CALLED THE DOCTORS : 8 (4,5 % OF THE 177 CONTACTS)

FROM THESE 8 CONTACTS, ALL 8 WERE JUST SIMPLE MARKS LEFT BY THE SILICON REBORDE; THE BOUTS CONTINUED NORMALLY.
